Interview with Roody Ledain about his experience of Sharing the Good News

Roody Ledain, a member of CCA since he was a child, started spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ in 2011. With the guidance of the Holy Spirit, he went out to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ to the homeless with his friends on 42nd street in the heart of Manhattan. In this interview Roody talks about his experience with spreading the good news.

Question: What inspired you to spread the good news to the homeless?

Answer: The Word of God. The word says in Matthew 28: 18-20, “And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, ‘All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of age’. Amen.” (NKJV) Being on the street and talking to them a couple of times made it become personal for me.

Question: How did you and your friends feel when talking to the homeless?

Answer: We felt nervous and scared; at first I thought we were going to be glowing like angels. However, I also thought the worst that nothing was going to work out. Like people would not receive the message, furthermore, how would we get the message out? Eventually we would have to get over ourselves, our fears, and just take courage. Once we opened up to the first person, it became much easier. From there on out we felt more comfortable and it became easier to speak to people, we called it the “icebreaker”. When we finished sharing the message, we would go home feeling so satisfied until the next time we returned and were motivated to do it again.

Question: Was there a person that you spoke to that stood out to you?

Answer: Yes, there was this one guy who said he did not know Christ. I felt that what we would be sharing wouldn’t make sense to him. However, through the Holy Spirit, I shared with him the gospel of Jesus Christ. How He sacrificed Himself for our sins. As I was sharing the gospel with him I wasn’t sure if he understood or if he believed what I was saying. But at the end I asked him if he believed and he said “Yes”, I was amazed and happy that he did!

Question: What would you tell others who want to spread the good news?

Answer: I would say to them, trust God. It’s okay to feel nervous or scared. The Holy Spirit will give you guidance and direct you as to where to go and what to say. Spreading the good news to the homeless was an amazing experience that helped me learn more about God and myself.
